FCC 22-88 Compliance Made Simple
On November 18, 2022, the FCC released Report and Order 22-88, harmonizing notification requirements for all service providers. By 2025, all Originating Service Providers (OSPs) and covered 911 service providers must:
- Notify 911 special facilities within 30 minutes of discovering an outage
- Include specific information elements in their notifications
- Notify via telephone AND in writing
- Provide follow-up notifications within 2 hours
- Exercise special diligence to maintain up-to-date contact information for PSAPs
OutageRELAY handles all these requirements automatically, removing the compliance burden from your team while ensuring you meet every aspect of the new regulations.

FAQs
How often are we supposed to notify these PSAPS?
At the time of outage and every 2 hours following that. Our system auto tracks this and does it for you.
How do we notify them?
The order says we must notify them via email and phone call. That’s the beauty of our service, we handle that for you.
How do I handle subscribers that are all over the country or my state?
You can predefine these subscribers locations in our application or specify them at the time of outage declaration.
What defines an outage?
An outage is classified as a backbone issue in your softswitch platform, cloud, or datacenter. Individual locations with a single phone down or ISP outage are not classified as an outage.
What is this order called?
FCC 22-88. Let me shoot you a copy of it over. If you want to talk to one of our experts I can set that up as well.
